SSPC visit 7 companies in 4 states in 3 days after SFI St. Patrick’s Day Science Medal event
SSPC’s Co-Directors Prof. Gavin Walker and Michael Zaworotko, Executive Director Dr Denise Croker and Industry Engagement Manager, Aisling Arthur, attended the SFI St. Patrick’s Day Science Medal event in Boston. An event recognising US-based scientists for their contributions to research and industry. The 2019 medals were presented to Prof. Eamonn Quigley, chief of gasteoenterology and hepatology, Houston Methodist Hospital and Michael Mahoney, CEO of Boston Scientific.
On this occasion the SSPC team continued on and paid stateside visits to Pfizer, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Merck, Sanofi, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc., Alkermes and Amgen. These relationships are very important as Industry partners provide direction and guidance into the research programme and higher research impact is achieved when fundamental science is applied to solve an industrial relevant challenge.
